Does it make sense to freshly give an user another form of the drug their addicted to? Most people that turn to these clinics are addicted to oxycotin so aren’t we just hooking them up? Methadone is addictive too so is it really a benefit to them?
I've be a medication nurse on a psychiatric unit for 33 years and I couldnt agree near you more. When methadone first came out I thought-oh apt. They've found a way to gain people bad heroin. That was supposed to enjoy been the impression.
Then, I saw all of the clinics spring up and I wasnt seeing any fall in heroin harm. People that are put on methadone by our good doctors lone make the addiction allowed. The idea be to give heroin the methadone and slowly lower the dose unti they werent using any. It turned out that methadone is harder to see than heroin. When we have patients who come surrounded by that are on methadone, they are always the first ones at the fanlight to get their dose. Very frustrating.
